In what comes out as a major relief to mumbaikars, the Union Railway Minister has informed through a tweet that women will be allowed to travel through suburban trains in Mumbai from 21st October.
The Rail Minister informed that the railways were always ready to start the local trains but were waiting for request for the same from the State Government
The tweet came after the Maharashtra Govt. had written to the Central as well as Western Railway to allow women to travel in suburban trains irrespective of essential or non-essential work.
The travel timings are 11am to 3 pm and 7pm to Last Local.
